Historic Langley

Circa 1953: Motel Built

"The Langley Motel began as a 1950's motor lodge. A likely spot to house travelers and sport fishermen alike who visited the Island in the 50's." (Langley Motel website).

The motel units are not present in a 1952 aerial view, but an ad for the Motel appears in the telephone book published in July, 1953.

A garage was added on the west side at the north end of the motel units sometime between 1961 and 1971.

The date of this photograph is uncertain. The white car at the motel appears to be a 1951-1953 Cadillac (Joe Hunt), but the garage was not present until after 1961.

The property changed ownership several times before James Nicolai (Jacobus Cornealaeus Nicolai(Nacoli) purchased the property from Leon and Marilyn Cline in 1978. James Nicolai sold it to Keith and Antje Gunnar in 1989 who rented the units to long-term tenants during the 11 years they owned the property.

Todd Soli purchased the property from Keith and Antje Gunnar in 2000, and restored the complex to a motel in 2002.
